Rest, Relax, Recharge: How Quiet Mind's Weighted Pillow Redefines Comfort and Calm for Mind and Body

Weighted blankets have taken the industry by storm, there is no doubt about that. Emerging in the early 2000’s and gaining popularity quickly, companies like Hush and Silk & Snow quickly produced high quality products that boast efficacious solutions for anxiety & stress.

But have you ever heard of a weighted pillow?

While it’s starting to seem like our bed frames will start requiring double reinforced flooring upon installation, as soon as I heard about these, I had to check them out!

As a person who has tendencies for sensory overload & rough bouts with anxiety, I am always game for any solution that doesn’t require a subscription.

Here is an honest review of my experience.

How could a weighted pillow help relieve stress or anxiety?

To be honest, I am not an avid user of weighted blankets. The all-encompassing nature tends to make me feel like I am wearing more of a straight jacket than a calming aid.

This is why I have really grown to love the weighted pillow from Quiet Mind™.

A huggable weighted pillow works by adding pressure from the weighted filling & can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which counteracts the "fight or flight" response, leading to a relaxation response.

Also, through Deep Touch Pressure (DTP) Stimulation, weighted pillows apply gentle, even pressure to the body, which may trigger the release of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.

These neurotransmitters are associated with feelings of relaxation and well-being, promoting a sense of calm and reducing anxiety.

With all of these benefits, I figured that there had to be more conditions that the weighted pillow from Quiet Mind™ helps with. After doing some research, I was blown away.

Along with Anxiety & Stress, this little miracle pillow assists with:

Insomnia and Sleep Disorders: People with insomnia or sleep disturbances may find that the gentle pressure from a weighted pillow helps improve sleep quality and aids in falling asleep faster.

Autism Spectrum Disorders: Weighted pillows can be used to support individuals with autism spectrum disorders, helping them feel more grounded and potentially assisting with sensory processing challenges.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Some individuals with ADHD may experience improved focus and attention when using a weighted pillow, potentially helping them stay more calm and centered.

Sensory Processing Disorders: Weighted pillows are sometimes used as a sensory tool to assist those with sensory processing difficulties by providing proprioceptive input.

Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS): Weighted pillows might help ease the discomfort associated with RLS, providing a soothing and calming effect.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): The calming sensation of a weighted pillow may be beneficial for individuals with PTSD, helping to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.

Depression: While not a standalone treatment for depression, some individuals report that the use of a weighted pillow can help provide comfort and a sense of security during challenging times.

Chronic Pain: Weighted pillows may offer relief for some individuals dealing with chronic pain by promoting relaxation and potentially easing muscle tension.

Is this an anxiety cure?

For those of us who live with anxiety, it is important to remember that there is never a ‘silver bullet’ solution & no ‘one size fits all’ prescription.

However, in the arsenal of tools that I keep in my belt when the stress becomes overwhelming, the weighted pillow from Quiet Mind™ has absolutely become one of the most essential. It’s small but mighty size also makes it a seamless travel companion when I am on the go.

The moment that I feel my level of stress increase - I lay down, rest the pillow on my chest, and can feel the calming effect come over my nervous system. Boom, I feel like me again!

Decreasing your stress is worth the investment.

For years, I tried to handle my anxiety alone, without medication, aids, etc. I can tell you from personal experience, this is not worth it. If I could only have expressed the release of stress that the weighted pillow provides years ago, it would have saved me from many restless nights & anxious moments.

That being said, the weighted pillow from Quiet Mind™ has a price point starting at $179. While this sounded like a lot to me at first, it is nothing compared to countless therapy sessions, daily medication & living with intrusive thoughts or anxiety. I can only speak for myself, but I am so happy that I was able to take the leap and recommend you do the same.
